HEALTH AND SAFETY

 

Report by the Chief Executive, Principal Fishery Officer, Finance/Admin Officer

 

Purpose of Report

To report compliance with the Committee's Health and Safety Policy and raise relevant issues

Recommendation

That the report be received

1. Implementation of the Committee's Health and Safety policy

1.1 The CE, PFO and F/AO reviewed health and safety on 2 May 2006.

1.2 The Committee's H&S policy is being implemented effectively. No modifications to the policy are necessary at present.

2. Fishery Officers/ Field Staff

2.1 No significant H&S issues have arisen over the past 4 months

2.2 As reported previously, the specification for improved helmets for Fishery Officers working in intertidal areas and inshore craft is under discussion. A number of options have been identified and two helmets will be purchased shortly.

2.3 High visibility jackets have been purchased for enforcement staff to improve safety in remote areas and to be used on enforcement operations when officers wish to have a highly visible presence among large numbers of fishers.

3. Lancaster Offices

3.1 No H&S issues have arisen since the last review.

4. Accidents

4.1 No accidents have been reported as having occurred since the last report.
