* Owned by Committee. † Disposed of during 2005/06
1.2 Costs
Fuel (average, all vehicles) 7.9p/mile
Other (excl.lease & insurance) 5.4p/mile
Insurance - £7,332 for the year covering all cars and vans.
1.3 Replacement
All vehicles (except Y685XCW) have been acquired under Operating Lease agreements, which will run for either three or four years before needing to be replaced.
2. Quadracycles
2.1 There are currently six vehicles in use, acquired between 2001 and 2006.
2.2 Costs
Overall running costs for these during 2005-2006 was £4,298.
2.3 Replacement
These vehicles are used almost exclusively in the intertidal areas by Fishery Officers working alone; they must, therefore, be kept to a high standard of safety. The current practice is for the bikes to be replaced approximately every two years, with the better of those remaining being passed on to the Senior Scientific Officer.
3. Zodiacs
3.1 There are currently five vessels in use, acquired between 1997 and 2005.
3.2 Costs
Overall running costs for these during 2005-2006 was £2,090.
3.3 Replacement
Where possible, it is intended to replace boats after five years, although a shorter replacement period is advisable for the Aegis’s boat which takes a lot more punishment than the others.
