Recommendation
1. That the report be noted
1. Fishery Officer Cardigan Bay
1.1 Senior Fishery Officer Keith Stone retired in February 2007. Mr Stone has worked for the Committee for 6 years after a career as a fisherman in Cardigan Bay. The Committee extends sincere thanks to SFO Stone for his service and wishes him a long and happy retirement.
1.2 Following a selection and interview process, Mr Stone is replaced by Mr Asa Glen Owen as Fishery Officer for the Southern part of the District. Mr Owen comes to us from the Harbour Office, Barmouth where he gained considerable sea going experience. Mr Owen started his employment with the Committee on 5 February and has completed his SFC training with Mr Boyce. He has also attended the Fishery Officer training course in Torquay in February 2007 so is well on the way towards completing his training.
2. Biodiversity Officer
2.1 Ms Vicky Hickin took up this post in December 2006 following the departure of Ingrid Iredale. Ms Hickin is already well on the way towards successfully completing the year’s work programme for this post as reported elsewhere on this agenda.
2.2 The post is currently a short term contract which ends at the end of February. An application for continuation of the grant funding of the post has been made to CCW who have indicated that there is every expectation that the funding will be available. We are currently awaiting confirmation of the grant so that the post can be extended.
