Prohibition of bottom towed fishing gear

1. No person shall use any bottom towed fishing gear from any fishing vessel in the prohibited area as defined at paragraph 2.

2. The prohibited area is all that sea area contained within straight lines connecting positions:

(a) 520 56.909’N 040 34.055’W

(b) 520 59.858’N 040 38.782’W

(c) 520 55.455’N 040 45.891’W

(d) 520 52.928’N 040 41.878’W

(e) 520 52.155’N 040 43.359’W

(f) 520 51.563’N 040 42.372’W

and the coastline at mean high water springs between positions (f) and (a).

3. All positions are derived from the WGS 84 datum

Explanatory Note not forming part of the Byelaw: The Byelaw seeks to give a higher level of protection to highly sensitive reef structures and horse mussels on an area of seabed off the North Llyn Peninsula. The use of all bottom towed fishing gear is therefore prohibited in the designated area.
